  • Netizens say that there are things that need to be prioritized more than the liquor ban.
  • She has become one of the most hated mayors in the COVID-19 crisis.

Netizens are reacting on social media about the liquor band in Quezon City that has been announced by Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Recently, the mayor had received criticisms from netizens for her unsatisfactorily handling of the COVID-19 crisis.

Kapamilya star Chai Fonacier said in her Twitter post that the Quezon City Mayor would rather focus on a liquor ban and having pictorials while distributing the relief goods.

Another celebrity K Brosas also questioned the said policy.

Question Lang po… bakit kelangan mag liquor ban? Ako kc honestly nakakabawas stress ang wine (moderately) lalo na SA panahon na Di ka maka socialize at iba rin epekto na halos 2 linggo ka Lang SA haws.. di para maglasing pero para ma relax.. thoughts?? ☺️✌🏼

You're lucky to drink beer in the time of Covid. There is no Joy in Quezon City bec Mayor Joy has banned all sale of beer and liquor. I can understand limiting the sale to 2 bottles per person but total ban is stoopid 👹 and aggravating. https://t.co/XpOQQlIwfd

Netizens reacted to Belmonte’s implementation of a liquor ban when there are more important things to take care of.

QC residents: bakit pinauwi yung 3 positive cases
Joy Belmonte: 😊

QC: bakit kayo gumagamit ng industrial infrared thermometer?
Joy: 😋

QC: nasaan na yung food ration?
Joy: liquor ban! 😚

Quezon city ano na? Liquor ban pa inuna niyo?! ASAN UTAK?

On March 26, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte implemented a liquor ban in the city until the end of the enhanced community quarantine period.

Under Executive Order No. 24, all persons and establishments are not allowed to sell or distribute liquor, wine, beer, or any other alcoholic product within the city.

Because of the decision that allowed three COVID-19 positive patients to go home because of a lack of space in the hospital, she became one of the most hated mayors.

Celebrities like Alex Gonzaga, Pokwang, Jaclyn Jose, Laurice Guillen, and Elizabeth Oropesa criticized her for having such decisions instead of making solutions.
