Kapuso actor Tom Rodriguez was one of the stars who joined to deliver a poem written by Yan Yuzon titled Ngingitian Kita. The said poem was dedicated to the frontliners who are risking their lives in combating the coronavirus disease that has already claimed over a hundred lives in the country.
Aside from Tom, other Kapuso stars who read the poem included Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe, Sunshine Dizon, Benjamin Alves, Mikoy Morales, Mikee Quintos, and Rita Daniela.
On Instagram, Tom shared with his followers the video produced by Mark Philipp Espina.
“Sa mga panahong katulad nito, kung saan hinahanapan natin ng kasiguraduhan ang bawat bukas…marami sa atin na ang tanging baon lamang ay manalig, at tumingin sa taas,” he started.
“Gayunpaman, ikinagagalak ko, na may mga bayaning itinakda na ipaglaban ang kaligtasan nating mga madla. Pawis at buhay ang handang ibuwis, ang kalinga ng kanilang minamahal, buong tapang na tinitiis,” he added.
“Ang tanging kapalit lang na hinahangad nila ay ang manatili tayo sa ating mga bahay — malayo sa sakuna. Kaya’t munti mang maituturing, sana’y umabot sa kanila ang pasasalamat na nakabalot sa ngiti, kahit mata lang muna ang kita,” he continued.

Many of his fans found his gesture inspiring and touching and thanked the actor as well as the other artists for their simple yet heartwarming act.
However, there were also some who did not appreciate the video for the reason that it lacked sincerity claiming that the Kapuso stars did not even try to memorize the beautiful piece. It was evident in the video that they were looking at their cheat sheets to deliver their lines.
Despite the rude comment, Tom managed to reply in a calm way.
He said, “Truly a sad affair when in this time of crisis, when people are just trying to call for unity and appreciation for our heroes, e, ‘yan pa talaga ang mapupuna mo.God bless you. I hope you truly find something productive to do during this ECQ than dole out criticism that holds no constructive value.”
Another netizen called the actor ‘plastic’. The fans fired back against the rude commenter and asked her to just move on and focus on the bright side of life.
Despite the accusation, Tom chose to wish the netizen’s family well in this time of crisis.
He stated: “I hope kahit papaano e, nakatulong ka din sa munting paraan na kaya mo. God bless you and your family in this time of crisis.”
