South Korean star Nancy McDonie of K-pop group Momoland says Charlie Dizon is her “best friend in the Philippines.”
The revelation was made during a live video chat on Instagram, where the 20-year-old K-Idol joined the 23-year-old Pinay.
Most Filipinos know her Nancy from K-pop group Momoland and even as the new on-screen partner of James Reid. But to Charlie Dizon, Nancy McDonie is more than just those.
In Instagram Live this Tuesday, Charlie, who is part of the cast of “A Soldier’s Heart,” surprised her followers by having Nancy drop by to say hello to them.
“I miss you so much,” McDonie told Dizon. The two also revealed that it was their first time to do video call with each other.

The K-pop singer said they had known each other since they were 11. Both were under the same training agency in South Korea, but Dizon was unable to stay in South Korea due to visa and contract issues.
“She’s like my best friend in the Philippines, we have a lot of unforgettable moments,” McDonie said.
She also added that Dizon still takes her around every time she visits the country, brings her to different restaurants, and introduces her to friends.
“She takes me everywhere like she picks me up in my hotel, she shows me all these great places and like restaurants and even like people too, we had a great time, it was awesome.”
She said she wished she could do the same for Dizon during a visit to Korea.
“I’m so sad, you were supposed to come to Korea and I wanted to give you a tour,” Charlie responded that Nancy should save the tour for next year.
Charlie Dizon almost debuted as a K-Pop singer before becoming one of the most promising local actresses. At the RISE Artist Studios bloggers conference last February 22, the actress remembered how she had been working under a Korean talent agency seven years earlier.
“Dati po nag-training po ako sa Korea. Nagpa-audition po kasi sila dito, sobrang ni-novena ko po ‘yun. Si Nancy ka-agency ko dati,” she revealed.
Charlie Dizon is now a Kapamilya actress best known as part of the cast of A Soldier ‘s Heart.”She also starred in the TV show Parasite Island last year, and was one of the stars confirmed for the prequel to Four Sisters and a Wedding.
