Popular TV host Korina Sanchez celebrated the “joint birthday” of her two housemaids, Gerlan and Jesselyn.
Last August 8, she shared on Instagram that they often get a scolding from her so the host came up with this idea to make up with them.
“CELEBRATION. It is the joint birthday of my lockdown residence househelp Gerlan and Jesselyn. Kasi madalas ko sila masermunan, bawi ako,” she wrote.
Korina went shopping with the two, bought them various lunch take-out foods, and spent bonding moments with them.
“Went out in full battle gear (took off face shield and mask for the photo lang poh) to Uniqlo to shop a bit for them.”
She narrated, “Saya nila. And then…..lunch is Din Tai Fung takeout! Salted egg shrimp, truffle yang chow fried rice, spicy crab xiaolongbao and Hot Prawn Salad, crispy beef strips…..and many more hahaha! Din Tai Fung also delivers!”
“And then we tripped on Bruno Mars (Just The Way You Are, Marry You) and Cinderella songs (Ang Boyfriend Kong Baduy, TL Ako Sayo) and true revelations about their love life. Ahahahahay! CENSORED.”
The Kapamilya host ended, “Having good help in the house is the #BestLife. We owe it to them to celebrate their lives.”
Talk show host and entertainment news writer Lolit Solis commended Korina for giving her maids a treat.
“Gusto ko iyon ginawa ni Korina Sanchez Roxas na pag blow out sa kanyang mga kasambahay, Salve. Madalas daw niya mapagalitan kaya nag decide siya na bigyan ng holiday treat,” Lolit said on Instagram.
Lolit also believes that househelpers need this kind of treatment every once in a while as repayment for their service. She also advised that they must be treated like family members to form a good relationship with them.
“Dapat talaga ginagawa natin ito sa mga kasambahay natin na matagal na natin nakasama dahil once in a while they need some fresh air. Saka para din ipadama sa kanila na heto, hindi lang kayo kasambahay, kapamilya din namin kayo. Mas lalo pa siguro titibay ang samahan nyo at mas lalo pang gaganda ang serbisyo nila sa inyo. Kung sinuman ang pumasok sa bahay nyo ag nakasama nyo, ituring nyo narin parte ng pamilya nyo, dahil hayun for years nagsisilbi sila sa inyo, kasama nyo, dapat lang na maging close kayo sa isa’t isa. Nice one Korina, bigyan mo narin sila ng K-llagen X ng Beautiderm para complete na ang treat mo sa kanila. Mas bongga.”
In the past, Korina had faced charges of alleged infliction of physical injuries and delayed salary by her former househelp Bernadita Inocencio. This case was later dismissed due to lack of evidence.
