Netizens furiously reacted to Ethel Booba’s latest tweet making light of suicide.

In a tweet that was supposed to be a joke, Ethel mentioned that she’s selling rope for those who are stressed.

“Goodnyt na uli mga teh sana naging happy ang araw nyo sa mga EWAN. KUNG STRESS KAYO. May tinda akong LUBID MURA LANG. HAPPY?”

That tweet didn’t sit well with netizens since suicide is a sensitive issue and should not be reduced to a simple joke.

“We like you better when you were @IamCharotism, kasi ito hindi tamang joke. Distasteful, hope you do better next time you tweet,” wrote Sofia Monica.

While @lakwatsarah asked netizens to report Ethel’s tweet for violating twitter rule on encouraging self-harm/suicide.

Under RA 11036 or the Mental Health Law, people who will discriminate against those with mental health problems will be punished, most especially if it is done on a public platform.

“Just a reminder that the Philippines already has RA 11036 known as the Mental Health Law which everyone should read or know about. Reminder too that suicide is NEVER a joke and that mental health should be taken seriously. Use your platforms wisely,” said Doctor Gia Sison who’s a mental health advocate in one of her tweets earlier this year.

Ethel, however, seemed unapologetic and dense about the sensitivity of her tweet after standing by what she said. She said the tweet is intended for all her bashers.

“My tweet is intended only to basher na walang mukha kung tinamaan para sau talaga to. Happy?”
