Mayor of Ormoc City Richard Gomez is currently getting roasted over a photo he posted on his Instagram. He posted a photo regarding the traits that a president should have.
This is in line with a series of typhoons entering the Philippines and the actions taken by the government as well as the demands coming from the people of the country.
As a result, netizens swarmed his IG story with similar reactions—Gomez has a typical DDS mindset.
Kevin Manalo posted on his Twitter account explaining to the actor-turned-politician that the people were looking for a competent leader, not a superhero.
He tweeted, “Competent leadership ang hinahanap ng mga tao Mr. Richard Gomez, hindi superhero. Hirap ba yun maintidihan?”

Twitter user @swikey took a swipe at the politician asking if it’s wrong to demand responsibility from a public official.
The netizen wrote, “So bawal magdemanda ng responsibilidad? Kung ganyan yung pinuputak ninyo, ano tingin ninyo sa public office? Pampayaman?”

The user also added, “Friendly reminder: Wag magpadala sa extreme hypothetical narratives. Yung tunay na pangulo, hindi kailangang gawan ng sandamakmak na excuses.” The netizen was referring to what a president should be in times of crises—actions rather than excuses.

Citizens need accountability from the leader of the country. It is the right of taxpayers to demand action from the president. If he couldn’t do his job properly, then it is time to step down. Sadly, Gomez used the straw man fallacy to refute criticisms against the government.

Some criticized his actions for mocking the call for good governance. They felt that somehow, the politician isn’t listening to what citizens of the country want. They even brought the recent painting made by Gomez which looked like male genitalia.
@zaiaslerman said, “iba din naman ang lakas ng loob ni richard gomez na i-mock ang calls for good governance ano although what can we expect from someone na artist ang tingin sa sarili matapos magdrawing ng tite?”

These netizens demanded competence from the government. They wanted to see that the government is taking action during times like this. They are not looking for a superhero to stop disasters by using superpowers.
What they want is the presence of the government to be felt, that they are here for the people. After all, they were elected by the people, to serve the people and the country and not themselves.
