With actor Luis Manzano and actress Jessy Mendiola’s announcement of their private engagement, which happened two months ago, Jessy and Luis went on record to clarify the breakup rumors earlier this year.
Earlier in her vlog, Jessy confirmed the rumors saying that they broke up back in May 2020.
“May 2020, Luis and I went through something, to the point na naghiwalay kami,” said Jessy.
Later on in the video, Jessy and Luis sat down to discuss what happened during the breakup.
Jessy said that up to now, they have a different perception of what happened between them in May 2020. Jessy thought that they broke up, but for Luis, they were cooling things off.
“Alam nyo yung chika na naghiwalay kami, totoo yun. Hanggang ngayon, di pa rin kami magkatugma kung ano yung nangyari. Para sa akin nagbreak kami. Para sa kanya nag-cool off kami,” said Jessy.
Luis then added his thoughts on the “breakup.”
“We took a break. We took a break. But basically may pinagdaanan kami nung summer. Were we close to ending it? We were,” said Luis.
Luis added that he thought that they took a break to work on their issues.
“The fact na you’re taking a break kahit papaano you both have some issues to deal with,” said Luis.
He also added that their “breakup,” or “break” wasn’t the typical situation and was more of an issue between the couple.
“It’s not the typical na, ‘t’s not you it’s me.’ Hindi kumbaga it’s between us talaga,” said Luis.
Jessy said that she realized during their break up that it wasn’t about her all the time and that Luis needed time to recuperate.
“I didn’t really pay attention to his needs. He needed time also. He needed time to, you know, to recuperate or like cool down. That’s what I realized when we broke up, na its not all about me all the time. Kaya ako naiiyak ako ngayon kasi I realized my mistake during that time,” said Jessy.
Earlier this year, clashing rumors about their breakup and marriage surfaced after netizens noticed Jessy sporting a diamond ring. Jessy and Luis kept mum about the split and marriage rumors. Then, last December 12, 2020, the two announced their engagement online.
