After all the hurdles and circumstances, ABS-CBN’s upcoming teleserye starring James Reid and Nancy McDonie of Momoland is set to push through in 2021.
Tonette Jadaone’s Soulmate Project is one of the new shows that ABS-CBN is coming up next year. The Network’s omnibus trailer showed the series teaser during the 2020 ABS-CBN Christmas Special on Sunday, December 20.
In 2019 as revealed, Reid and McDonie’s teleserye project has its original release this year.
However, before the project got into full swing, a pandemic came that halted the production.
Apart from the pandemic, ABS-CBN also lost its franchise to operate its free TV license in May. It the Network to cease-and-desist, following the order from the National Telecommunications Commission. After the shutdown, a bigger hit was when congress led by former Speaker Alan Cayetano voted to reject the Kapamilya network’s new franchise application.
Meanwhile, according to an ABS-CBN article, the teleserye will take on a fictional version of the Philippines, where the government enacts a law that matches citizens with their soulmates under ‘The Soulmate Project’ or ‘Republic Act 143’.
James is Jayson from Tondo, who was picked by the government for a third-batch implementation of the law. Nancy, on the other hand, is Binna, a Korean-American who lives in the Philippines.
No release date was yet announced, but expect that it will be within next year.
