Ogie Diaz took to social media to express his support for Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon’s proposal to punish red-tagging state agents.

The talent manager and comedian shared Philstar’s post on Twitter which contains the report on Drilon’s bill to seek red-tagging criminalization.

Opo, please. Ipasa nyo na. Kung maka-redtag naman kasi parang sure na sure. https://t.co/FzZEX5P2NK

“Opo, please. Ipasa niyo na. Kung maka-redtag naman kasi parang sure na sure,” Diaz wrote.

On Wednesday, March 24, former justice secretary Franklin Drilon filed Senate Bill No. 2121, or an Act Defining and Penalizing the Crime of Red-tagging.

If passed into law, the red-tagging would be punishable by up to ten years in prison, and those convicted would be banned from holding public office.

To recall, the red-tagging issue became controversial when one of the government officials, Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., red-tagged several artists and TV personalities whom he claimed were part of the communist group New People’s Army (NPA).

On October 21, 2020, Parlade went on a ‘red-tagging spree’ as he mentioned the names of Liza Soberano, Catriona Gray, Angel Locsin, and even Ella Colmenares who is Angel’s sister.

Liza Soberano was red-tagged after she delivered a speech in a Gabriela webinar as they celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child.

Ogie Diaz, who is Liza’s manager, defended the young actress as he disaffirmed the accusation that Liza accepted money to be a guest at the said event.

Monthly daw yan,” he wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, netizens also expressed their opinion on the bill to seek the criminalization of red-tagging.

One netizen wrote that the bill needs to be passed for the sake and protection of the people who are being wrongly labeled as terrorists.

First they came after people who use drugs. Then the poor. Then the journalists. Then the activists. Then the lawyers. Who’s next?

We need to support each other if we want to get out of hell that is Duterte. I hope this gets passed! https://t.co/DCcXQ25BoD

RED-TAGGING IS A CRIME! Tama yan… so wag kayo basta basta mang akusa, its libelous to do so. https://t.co/2Euu85xFMG

If passed into law, Parlade & Lorraine Badoy will be the first to behave from baseless redtagging! Otherwise, they'll serve as examples to other stupids like them!

Mag red tag ka if you have enough evidence. Pero kung puro ka confiracy theory, then shut up and find more evidence to your theory. This law will protect the filipino citizen from red tagging without enough evidence.

Meanwhile, other netizens mentioned that Drilon’s seek for the approval of the bill was unnecessary as the move was just for show.

Ayaw nya sa red tagging para mapangalagaan ang mga kabaro niyang ganun ang gawain. Bugok tong hunyango na to na palaging tulog.

@BigManDrilon Do we need this during this time of pandemic? Beware of the menopausal Leni and Agot and their minions, they might get irritable again after reading this news.
