People are asking which network will the award-winning actor John Lloyd Cruz make his official showbiz comeback.

Cruz made his appearance at the Shopee Mid Year Sale event on GMA Network, which led to the assumption that he would be a Kapuso. However, recent reports about his meeting with ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak had people thinking he’s actually returning to the Kapamilya Network.

And now, ABS-CBN reporter Karen Davila recently interviewed the award-winning actor on her YouTube channel. As a result, some people are asking, did Davila confirm Cruz’s return to the Kapamilya Network?

During her interview, Davila asked Cruz about his hiatus from showbiz which the actor clarified.

“Oo nga naman bumalik ako sa Showbiz, pero hindi ako umalis sa paggawa ng sine hindi ako umalis sa harap ng camera kasi kahit naman tumigil ako noon with my usual work in showbiz or in films and TV nagtuloy pa rin naman ako. But much, much smaller production.”

Then, Davila asked the actor about ‘suddenly deciding to go a different direction.’ Cruz answered that about his other path being crowded.

“Medyo crowded doon sa isang daan eh. That’s really true.

“Sa trabaho namin napaka-vital nung, ‘teka lang, are you making the right decisions, are you making the right choices? Are you behaving… the way they want to, or the way you want to?’

“Akala mo, you’ve got it all figured out pero bigla kang may mangyayari sayo na parang, ‘ah hindi na ako yan ah? Teka lang.’ You’ve got to step back, nung pag-step back ko medyo lumayo lang.”

The actor also added that he was fighting for the content he wants to show to his audience.

“I got tired of fighting for the content that I want to see on a more commercial platform. We owe it to our audiences. We’re growing as performers. Syempre, you want to take your audience with you.”

Reports about Cruz’s showbiz comeback have been published since 2020, even before the pandemic began. However, due to the restrictions, lockdowns, and ABS-CBN shut down, his plans of returning had to take a backseat.

Then, he made headlines after appearing on Shopee’s Mid Year Sale Event on GMA Network in June. And, some reports say that he was supposed to have two projects with the network.

However, with his meeting with Katigbak and his interview with Davila, does this mean his plans changed?
