Kapamilya artist Adrian Lindayag shared how the movie The Boy Foretold By The Stars changed his career in acting; he said during the media conference for the movie’s follow-up series, Love Beneath the Stars, on August 9.
The said Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) film entry helped him land a lead role.
“Siguro dito sa ‘The Boy Foretold by the Stars’ na mag-play ng lead character. And dito ko po na-explore ‘yung talagang trabaho namin bilang artista na kung paano ka magda-dive doon sa character. Sobrang swerte ko lang na ‘yung una kong pelikula na ginawa ever ay napasali sa MMFF. Tapos na nominate tayo.
“And, hindi ako makapaniwala hanggang ngayon. Parang tuwing natutulog ako pag gabi hindi ako natutulog ng hindi nagpapasalamat, ng hindi na-eelibs sa mga nangyayaris sa mundo. Totoo bang artista na ako. Totoo bang mayroon akong ginawang ganitong klaseng project.”
A proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, he expressed his hopes of seeing a Boys Love (BL) production that tackles the SOGIE Bill.
“Ako gusto ko talaga ma-tackle sa series or pelikula na BL ‘yung mga legislation or ‘yung kawalan ng batas sa mga LGBT or ‘yung anti-discrimination bill.
“Kasi hindi pa rin s’ya naipapasa ngayon. So ‘yung gender-based discrimination or gender-based violence. Wala pa rin siya, or hindi pa rin siya naisasabatas. So sana, may production na mag-tackle ng ganong topics.”
Lindayag also recalled his struggle at a young age because of his sexual orientation and how he resolved it with his faith.
“Ako, personally ‘yung faith ko madami ng pinagdaanan ‘yan. So I grew up hating myself, because ayaw kong maramdaman ‘yung mga natural na nararamdaman ko. I don’t want to be attracted to boys kasi bawal siya. Narinig ko na bawal siya. So I grew up hating myself.
“Noong nag-college ako sa La Salle, doon ko natutunan ‘yung iba’t ibang mga SOGIE, iba’t-ibang faith, iba’t-ibang paniniwala sa mundo. Doon ako naging mas liberal. And, naging atheist ako actually, that time. Tapos, it didn’t work out because fundamentally, I am a very spiritual person.
“So ngayon umabot na ako sa pag-merge ko ng truth ko as a person at noong relationship ko with God, and spirituality.”
Now, he continues the story from The Boy Foretold By The Stars in its follow-up series, Love Beneath the Stars with Keann Johnson as his partner.
The series delves into the lives of Dominic (Lindayag) and Luke (Johnson) with the additional cast members–Nikki Valdez, Agot Isidro, Romnick Sarmenta, Victor Silayan, and Von Picson.
Dolly Dulu still directs the series and the Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta Maria with filmmaker Derick Cabrido co-produces it. It will land on iWanTFC on August 16, 8 pm.
