Joross Gamboa, Roxanne Guinoo-Yap, Brenna Garcia: SCQ before vs. artists now

On September 27, Star Circle Quest alumni Joross Gamboa, Roxanne Guinoo-Yap, and Brenna Garcia shared their thoughts on the SCQ batches of the past versus the way of discovering artists now.

During the exclusive interview with the Hoy Love You Cast on RAWR Nation, Joross, Roxanne, and Brenna shared details about their most recognized skills and features as part of the Kapamilya talent search.

Brenna noted that most people recall her talent in dancing even though she’s pursuing a career in music now.

And, nakikita pa rin po ‘yun ng mga tao kapag may guesting tayo sa ASAP or kahit na simpleng Tiktok.”

Joross pointed out that his fun personality and his chemistry with Roxanne have endured over the years.

“Siguro ‘yung pagiging makulit bilang Joross noong SCQ eh naa-apply namin dito.

Roxanne then remembered SCQ Batch 1’s intense training to hone their craft as artists.

“And of course, because of that training, ‘yun ‘yung nagmarka sa mga tao because pinagsikapan namin. Isa sa mga pinagdaanan naming training is ‘yung mata. Dapat lagi magwo-work sayo, mata because doon kasi makikita ‘yung acting mo. Kasi TV is limited so doon makikita ‘yung chemistry ng JoRox, ‘yung love team and kahit anong pang love team.”

Brenna was the Grand Kiddie Superstar of Star Circle Quest in 2011. Joross and Roxanne, on the other hand, joined the first season of Star Circle Quest in 2004.

Joross and Roxanne then assessed the younger generation of artists in comparison to their SCQ batch.

Roxanne highlighted the accessibility of resources for the new stars of today compared to their batch.

“‘Yung generation ngayon, ‘yung batch nila Brenna ang dali. Lahat madali. So ‘yung mga Tiktok, doon mix ‘yung music, dancing, acting, so parang mas madali, easier for them.

Pero alam mo ‘yun which is na-enjoy namin. For me, mas gusto ko madaanan ko ‘yun, little by little. So parang mas iba ‘yung foundation for me kasi ikaw mismo dinaanan mo ‘yung proseso.”

Joross remarked that it’s much easier to become famous these days compared to before.

He then shared his advice to younger artists about aiming for longevity in the entertainment industry.

At saka ‘yung pagiging professional.

As for their current project, Hoy, Love You Two, premiered on the iWant TFC app on September 11. The iWant TFC original series follows the story of Jules and Marge (Joross and Roxanne) as they deal with step kids, in-laws, and their issues as a couple.
