24 Oras anchors reacted to John Lloyd Cruz’s impersonation of Kapuso broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez.
In an interview with 24 Oras on November 30, Cruz tried to mimic Enriquez’s iconic manner of speaking.
During the virtual interview, Bea Alonzo was seated beside him.
Cruz got asked if he has updates regarding his upcoming sitcom with the GMA Network. He replied: “Nelson, ayoko magbigay muna ng [information]… baka mamaya hindi accurate ang information ko…”
Alonzo cut Cruz off in mid-sentence and inquired why his manner of talking sounded like Enriquez’s.
“Bakit pag nagsasalita, parang si Mike Enriquez?”
Cruz then gave the following statements using Enriquez’s signature manner of speaking: “Alam mo Nelson, ang pwede ko lang ibahagi sa ‘yo ay nakapag-taping na kami ng unang cycle namin. Pwede mong asahan yang information na yan. Hindi yan fake news.
“Kung kailan kami e-ere ay hindi ko pa alam, Nelson. Bea, pasok!,” He said.
Both Nelson Canlas and Alonzo could not contain their emotions; the two exploded in laughter.
Enriquez quickly reacted to Cruz’s impersonation of him.
“Sabagay, dati na kong napagkamalang si John Lloyd. Sa totoo lang… mahirap,” Enriquez quipped while beside his co-anchors Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales.
“Magising ka, Mike. Wake up, wake up,” Tiangco humorously responded to Enriquez.
The One True Pair: The Movie marked Cruz and Alonzo’s comeback as onscreen partners. The short film premiered on YouTube on December 1.
