Despite the pandemic, the GMA Network offers its viewers new stories and TV shows.

Aside from TV projects, the network would also launch a brand new generation of Kapuso leading ladies such as Ysabel Ortega, Liezel Lopez, Shaira Diaz, Arra San Agustin, Ashley Ortega, and Pauline Mendoza.

Ysabel Ortega and Liezel Lopez

These Kapuso actresses are a part of the upcoming science-fiction fantasy Voltes V: Legacy.

The series is based on the Japanese anime television series Chōdenji Machine Voltes V by Toei Company and Sunrise.

GMA Network acquired the rights to make a live-action adaptation of Voltes V through Telesuccess Productions, Toei’s Philippine-based licensing company.

It stars Miguel Tanfelix, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, Raphael Landicho and Ysabel Ortega. Liezel Lopez is also included in the cast as she would play the role of an unrequited lover.

The series will be Ysabel Ortega’s first lead role since her debut in showbiz in 2014. She is known for her supporting roles in Born For You (2016), On the Wings of Love (2015-2016), and Pusong Ligaw (2017-2018).

On the other hand, Liezel Lopez is a finalist of the sixth season of GMA’s Starstruck in 2016. After her stint in Starstruck, she then signed a contract with the network and appeared in several Kapuso shows like My Korean Jagiya (2017), Onanay (2018-2019), Kara Mia (2019), and Babawiin Ko ang Lahat (2021).

Arra San Agustin and Shaira Diaz

Arra San Agustin and Shaira Diaz will star in the action-adventure series ‘Lolong.’ The series is inspired by the world’s largest crocodile in captivity of the same name. The series will tackle environmental issues such as climate change, global warming, and the extinction of animals.

Agustin and Diaz will star alongside Ruru Madrid. The series was first announced in 2019 but had a slow start and progress due to the rise of a pandemic.

Arra San Agustin is also a finalist of Starstruck season 6. After her stint in the reality-based talent show, she landed bit roles in Kapuso shows like Magpakailanman, Karelasyon, and Dear Uge. She is currently a mainstay in Bubble Gang.

Shaira Diaz transferred to the GMA network in 2016 after being with TV5 for four years. She is known for her roles in Kapuso shows Pamilya Roces (2018), Love You Two (2019), and The Lost Recipe (2021).

Ashley Ortega and Pauline Mendoza

Ashley Ortega and Pauline Mendoza will headline the upcoming Kapuso series ‘Widow’s Web’. It will also star Carmina Villaroel, Dave Bornea, EA Guzman, Adrian Alandy, Arthur Solinap, Ryan Eigenmann Vanessa Peña, Mosang, Anjay Ayson, Alan Paule, and Karenina Haniel. The head writer writes it of GMA Network, R.J. Nuevas

Ashley Ortega joined the showbiz industry as early as 4, but she did not receive any lead roles yet. Widow’s Web will be her first major project.

She only played minor roles in Kapuso shows like Maynila, Magpakailanman, Dear Uge, and Wish Ko Lang. She also appeared in My Destiny (2014), Oh My Mama (2016), Dangwa (2015), and Legal Wives (2021).

Pauline Mendoza is best known for her role as Crisel in Kambal, Karibal in 2017. She is also known for her roles in various roles in Little Nanay (2015), That’s My Amboy (2016), and My Love from the Star (2017).

Her first leading role in television is the Kapuso revenge series Babawiin Ko ang Lahat.

The mentioned names of the new generation of leading ladies are only a few from what the network has in store for its viewers. Stay tuned for more!
