On February 14, Kapamilya star Barbie Imperial shared why she won’t get back together with an ex-boyfriend.
During the media conference for Noreen Capili’s The Goodbye Girl, Imperial noted that based on her experience, she had not gotten back together with any of her former relationships, noting that they had their shot.
“Based on experience naman, wala naman akong binalikan na ex. So siguro doon na lang tayo sa experience na parang hindi na. Kasi for me, ‘yung time na ‘yun na magkasama kami, sana ‘yun na ‘yung time na okay ang lahat. Na gagawin kung ano man ‘yung ipo-prove, ganyan-ganyan. Parang you had your shot.”
She then explained the importance of having a good breakup between former lovers.
“That’s why maganda kung good break up talaga. Kasi di ba if nag-away na kayo, siraan, parang ang hirap magkabalikan talaga. Pero ‘yun nga ulitin ko lang ‘yung sinabi ko– nandoon ka na eh, sa time na magkasama tayo sana doon mo ginawa. If wala na, if may big reason ng paghiwalay namin. Parang mahirap kasi sa akin na tanggapin ‘yung mga bagay na nangyari. Parang hindi na.”
She also recalled the valuable lesson she learned about love based on her experience.
“Siguro ‘yung biggest lesson ko pagdating sa love, learn to let go. Kasi minsan hindi na rin talaga enough ‘yung mahal niyo ‘yung isa’t isa. Like if wala ng growth, like kung wala na kayong naiiambag na growth para sa isa’t isa, para saan pa ‘yung relationship if puro away, puro pangit ‘yung nangyayari. Kahit mahal niyo ‘yung isa’t isa kailangan mo na talagang i-let go or else mawawala ka–‘yung sarili mo.”
In February 2022, Imperial confirmed her breakup with Diego Loyzaga. Imperial confirmed her relationship with Loyzaga in January 2021, and they recently starred in the Vivamax movie, Dulo in December 2021.
As for her most recent Kapamilya project, Imperial joins the cast of The Goodbye Girl, along with Turs Daza.
The six-episode digital series includes Kapamilya actors Angelica Panganiban, JC De Vera, and RK Bagatsing.
