Filmmaker Cathy Garcia-Molina on Monday, February 14, said she is still determined to leave the Philippines and migrate to New Zealand for her children’s sake.
“Actually, my children, especially my daughters, still want to go to New Zealand,” she said during the virtual media conference of her upcoming sitcom My Papa Pi.
Because of COVID-19, the initial plan got postponed, and they are still in the country. However, it did open an opportunity for her production company Nickel Entertainment to provide livelihood amid the pandemic.
“Pero nandoon pa rin yung kailangan naming umalis, kailangan kong pagbigyan yung mga anak ko,” stressed the director.
Despite her impending departure, there is a chance that New Zealand is the set location for her next movie.
“Hindi pong malayong mangyari. Actually napag-isipan na. Kasi ang sabi nang Star Cinema sa akin before, kung nandoon ako, sila ang susunod,” Direk Cathy shared.
The director would also be making a film once a year. However, she made an exception for the sitcom because of Piolo Pascual.
“I really wanted to work with Piolo kasi ang huli namin Lobo pa. Dekada na ‘yon! So na-miss ko na siya and because ngayon parang once a year na ako magka-pelikula, tapos pareho na rin kaming busy, parang na-offer sa akin yung pagkakataon na, ‘Ayan! project with Papa P!'”
It is also her first time doing a sitcom.
So when she was offered My Papa Pi stars 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, Pepe Herrera, and Pascual, she grabbed the opportunity.
“Pangalawa, it’s something new to me. Sitcom na naging sweetcom. Tapos na-cutean ako sa idea na kambal si Pepe at Pidyong. So natuwa ako doon. Tapos meron ka pang Queen P (Wurtzbach) dito,” she continued.
Meanwhile, Pascual admitted that both of them have been waiting for a project to work on together.
“S’yempre it’s an opportunity. We’ve always wanted to work together but we never… parang maraming projects na hindi matuluy-tuloy. So yun nga, at least finally we’re gonna do something like this.”
Pascual is also certain that they will be making a film soon.
“And for sure, one of these days, we’ll still be able to do a film together because ‘yon talaga ang pangako namin sa isa’t-isa. So mangyayari ‘yon.”
My Papa Pi will premiere on ABS-CBN in March 2022.
