On May 26, rising balladeer Arthur Nery detailed his songwriting process despite not knowing how to play instruments.
During a media conference for his upcoming music event, Nery admitted using his voice instead of musical instruments when writing.
“Super weird, kasi usually pag may sessionist like violin, kinakanta ko sa kanya ‘yung ilalagay sa song– ako na ‘yung violin. Ganon ‘yung nangyayari. Pero, hindi po ako marunong mag-chords.”
He acknowledged having regrets about not learning how to play the piano when he was younger.
“Mas na-interested po ako noong time na magpa-piano lesson po ako, mas na-interested ako sa Counter Strike, sa Dota, so parang gumanon talaga. ‘Yun ‘yung biggest regret ko na dapat pala hindi ako tumakas ng piano lessons.”
He then detailed the tedious process of producing and creating his songs.
“Sometimes random lang, like kumakain kami tapos biglang may line, so I have to write it down and then hahayaan ko na siya. And then the whole day, nagpo-pondo ako ng keywords, ganon.
“May producer ako si Axel, nagbabatuhan kami, vini-VM ko sa kanya ‘yung naisip ko na like four lines, vini-VM ko sa kanya and then doon na siya gagawa ng beat from scratch. So ibe-base niya ‘yung areglo and then rewrite– ten times — rewrite, rearrange, reproduce, paulit-ulit. Hanggang sa dumating kami sa point na sige, parang I think ito na ‘yun.”
