Hidilyn Diaz gets bashed for her “plant onions” comment on Judy Ann Santos’s Instagram Story

In the comments section of his post, Diaz said that she will just opt to plant onions by herself.

On Monday, August 22, Hidilyn Diaz was bashed for her “plant onions” comment on Judy Ann Santos’s Instagram Story.

Santos initially expressed her sentiments over the increased price of white onions.



“Sibuyas na puti!! Nakakaloka ka! Dati, kailangan ka munang hiwain bago maluha… ngayon, naiisip pa lang kita naiiyak na ako sa presyo mo!” Santos captioned her IG story.

In another photo, Santos was seen hugging the onions in plastic.

She added, “Pero dahil kailangan kita, kaysa mas kailangan mo ko, ha-hug kita at nanamnamin kita bago kita iluto… importanteng namnamin ka dahil 550 ka per kilo! Kalerks!

“Pasensya na… hindi talaga ko maka-move on… yung dati naman kasing 40 pesos per kilo, naging 550 na! Paano naman akong hindi magpapaka-OA! Paano na ang sisig!! Onion soup, onion rings, at kung ano-ano pa.”

Many netizens called Santos OA overacting for her reaction to the price hike of white onions.

Noel Ferrer shared their Instagram Story of Santos and agreed with her statement.

In the comments section of his post, Diaz said that she would just opt to plant onions by herself.

“Magtanim na ko ng sibuyas,” Diaz wrote.

Some netizens then derided her following this.

A netizen said, “Oo tanim ka rin ampalaya hahaha.”

Another netizen wrote, “Magpraktis ka na lang oi di yung nakikisawsaw ka!”



Diaz is the first Filipino to ever win an Olympic gold medal for the Philippines. She is also an Olympic weightlifting record holder by winning the women’s 55 kg category for weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
