On August 25, concert and events director Frank Lloyd Mamaril disclosed that other artists had approached him to become their talent manager.
In an interview with the press, including LionhearTV, at the Fat Skillet on Tomas Morato, Mamaril, who recently ventured into talent management, clarified that he wanted to focus on his first artist, Jon Guelas.
“Yes, actually, they’re– mostly also, indie artists who would want that also to be under my helm, but also/ I want to focus on Jon first. I want to make sure he succeeds, kasi feeling ko when he succeeds, I succeed as well. And that’s the only time that I could maybe manage another talent.”
He also emphasized that managing Guelas is his debut as a talent manager.
“This is like my debut as a manager. I’m into directing and hindi ko akalain na because of what I do. I can also influence people to support another artist. So I guess ‘yun.”
He then discussed what he saw in Guelas to begin managing the musician.
“What made me realize that it’s worth it to invest in him–and to manage him, is his talent. And at the same time, it’s his attitude towards his craft.
“Di ba the typical is, because he’s foreign, he’s half-British, you would think that the European blood would be more dominant, pero sa kaniya he’s so respectful, and how he works, you would see the Filipino in him. The Filipino that is resilient, the Filipino that is a go-getter.”
Mamaril directed the Miss Universe Philippines TV special in 2020 and 2022.
His first venture into talent management is Jon Guelas, who wrote and sang the He’s Into Her theme, Did I Let You Go.
At the media interview, his first talent, Guelas, revealed their plans for his music career, including releasing the song Hardest Thing, which drops on September 16 on music streaming platforms. They also announced their plans to create an EP by November 2022.
As for music events, Mamaril helms the He’s Into Her concert at the Araneta Coliseum on August 27, with Guelas as one of their performers.
