In an interview with Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel on Sunday, September 25, the singer-comedian Janno Gibbs admitted that he sometimes gets offended whenever he is called “laos.”
According to him, “laos” is the constant word being tagged to him by his bashers whenever he engages them in controversial social media topics.
“Lagi namang binabalik sa akin, ‘Laos ka na. Laos na kaya nag-iingay sa social media.”
Asked by Diaz, he replied against his bashers, he said yes adding that he already accepted that he’s not that popular today compared to his “golden” years in showbiz.
“Oo, pero aminado naman akong hindi na ako sikat, laos na.
“Nahe-hurt din pero tanggap ko naman. Alam mo, sa paniniwala ko, laos lang naman ako pag wala akong ginagawa, e.
“Pag may movie akong bago, hindi na naman ako laos, di ba? Ganun lang naman yun, e,” Janno explained.
He then added that he would just clap back at his bashers asking them if they ever experienced being popular or famous cause he did.
“Yun ang sinasagot ko. Ang sasabihin ko, ‘Ikaw ba sumikat ka ba?’ Iyan ang sinasagot ko.
“Ako nalaos pero ikaw ba sumikat ka ba kahit kailan?’ Yun ang mga sagot ko.”
Janno started his career in That’s Entertainment where he was eventually paired and made a popular loveteam with Manilyn Reynes.
He starred as the lead actor in several box office films like Ang Pagbabalik ni Pedro Penduko, Pedro Penduko 2, and Ober Da Bakod The Movie. His most recent film was the 2020 Viva Films entry to the 2020 MMFF Digital Edition Pakboys Takusa with Andrew E. and Dennis Padilla.
Aside from movies he also made a successful singing career. His most notable songs include Fallin, Ipagpatawad Mo, Binibini, and Heart of Mine.
Janno also made an illustrious career on television. He was well known for his character Mokong in the GMA Network sitcom Ober Da Bakod from 1992 to 1997 and Kuya Kot in another Kapuso sitcom Beh Bote Nga from 1999 to 2003.
He was also a regular TV host on GMA Network variety shows Eat Bulaga, SOP, Sunday All Stars, and the 2007 Kapuso gameshow Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5?–which is the Filipino version of the American hit game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
His most recent hosting gig was with Net25’s variety show Happy Time which aired from September 2020 to October 2021.
