The Kapuso singer-actress admitted she looks up to Santos and that the Kapamilya actress is one of her acting influences while growing up.
Kapuso artist and Maria Clara at Ibarra lead star Julie Anne San Jose pleaded to netizens to stop comparing her to Kapamilya actress Judy Ann Santos. The request came after a fan, who was obviously impressed of the Kapuso artist’s portrayal of Maria Clara in her TV series, claimed that San Jose is [actually] better in acting than the award-winning Kapamilya actress and ‘Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera’ Judy Ann Santos.
That tweet has is now deleted since San Jose’s response.
In her reply, San Jose admitted that even she is one of Santos’ fans, noting how she grew up watching her shows.

“Hello po, hindi po totoo ito. I look up to Ms. Judy Ann, isa po siya sa pinakahinangaan at pinapanood ko simula bata pa ako, at marami pa apo ako kakaining bigas. Itigil na po natin ito.

San Jose has received flattering praises and even accolades since she started playing the titular Maria Clara in the top-rated Kapuso series. Many critics agree that the role is [so far] her best portrayal on television, which may put her name among nominees for future awarding ceremonies by the country’s most prestigious award-giving bodies.
On Twitter, netizens, especially Santos fans, refuted the claim, with many of them highlighting Santos’ exemplary achievements throughout her more than three decades in showbiz. Santos has not yet given a reaction to the issue.
