Award-winning actor Albert Martinez highlighted the retention level of the top-rating Kapamilya series, in terms of quality and intrigue.
Martinez is all praises for the Kapamilya series, The Iron Heart, where he plays the main antagonist, Priam de la Torre.
Returning to ABS-CBN after doing several shows with other networks, he could not help but take pride in the quality that the Star Creatives Television-produced series has been able to offer to Filipino audiences.
During our visit to the show’s set locations in Cebu, last February 6 and 7, Martinez shared his thoughts on shows that fail to retain quality throughout their entire run. Citing the common problem with Filipino TV shows, the actor underscored The Iron Heart’s being an exception, noting how the Richard Gutierrez-starrer pushed the quality of local action productions up a notch.
“Ang common problem kasi natin is that we’re so good at opening, pagdating natin sa content at quality, pakonti nang pakonti at lumalaylay na.
“I’m talking for many years of being in the industry, common problem ‘yan. Ang galing sa umpisa, pagdating sa gitna hanggang dulo, lalaylay na,” the seasoned dramatic actor added, noting his years in show businesses, doing soap operas and movies, one after another.
Martinez has multiple hit titles under his belt, but for some reason, the pride he seemingly gets from doing The Iron Heart is evidently on another level.
Discussing the caliber that the show has been able to deliver to Filipino viewers, Martinez teased the audience about the course that the series is set to take in the coming months.
“This particular project—The Iron Heart—is more of a fantasy. Hindi siya, like as realistic as the Marvel Universe. You call it Iron Heart because there is a special thing that’s happened inside Apollo, chemically, engineered. So, nag-bobordeline tayo sa pagka-Marvels nang konti…” he shared, revealing a potential top secret about the show’s plot.
Is the show going all out in being a full-fledged sci-fi fantasy show? That seems to be what Martinez was teasing at.
The actor also took the chance of explaining why he accepted the role, despite getting the bus with other projects.
“When the script was presented to me, I already said ‘this is something I haven’t done before. This is something I’m interested in doing, and it’s something I can play around with my character,” he said.
The Iron Heart airs from Mondays to Fridays on A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Channel, and Jeepney TV, and streams online via Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC.
