At the media conference for the finale of Mars Ravelo’s Darna, which LionhearTV covered on January 30, Janella Salvador and Jane de Leon reacted to the people shipping Darna and Valentina online.
Salvador and de Leon acknowledged that people online are shipping their characters in the TV series.
“Actually, laging tinatanong sa atin ‘to di ba?” De Leon said.
“Parang, I remember the first time I saw it, ako pa ‘yung nagpakita sayo,” Salvador added.
“Yeah, siya ‘yung nagpakita sa akin, sa tweets,” De Leon clarified.
“But, even before people /have been/ shipping us, we were already joking about this sa set,” Salvador noted.
The two also talked about their chemistry as Narda and Regina/Valentina.
“Na parang ang lakas ng chemistry natin,” De Leon stressed.
“Marami kaming scenes na kinukuhanan kami ng reaction ang tagal namin naka-ganyan, naka-ganyan lang kami ng sobrang tagal,” Salvador revealed.
De Leon admitted that the online shipping of them came unexpectedly.
“Sa mga fans, lagi naming sinasabi na sobrang unexpected talaga na sumabog ‘yung Darna and Valentina and JaneNella, especially sa mga panahon ngayon, hindi naman namin inaakala na mangyayari ‘yun. And grabe ‘yung pagmamahal na binigay ninyo sa aming dalawa ni Janella.
“Nagpakatotoo lang talaga kami ni Janella, we we’re just like this.”
Salvador then felt thankful and honored with the support from the LGBTQIA+ community.
“Yeah, we are so thankful, and ‘yun nga like I said kanina, it was unexpected, but it was such an honor din to have the LGBTQIA+ community like supporting, nakaka-warm din siya ng puso nakakatuwa.”
The two also asserted that they’re open to taking on ‘Girls Love’ themed projects after Darna.
De Leon and Salvador star in the Kapamilya action-fantasy series Darna with Zaijian Jaranilla and Joshua Garcia.
