At the grand media conference of Martyr or Murderer on February 21, artist-social media star Sachzna Laparan revealed her family is Pro-Marcos.
Laparan detailed her family’s reaction when she got the role in the upcoming Viva film.
“Hindi eh, kasi unang-una, ang family ko talaga ay Pro-Marcos. So noong nalaman nila, sila ‘yung pinaka-unang excited na ayan, gagampanan ko nga po si Cory–si Young Cory Aquino and kasama ko naman si Jerome na nadidiyan to guide me.”
She then noted how she wanted to hear the story of the Marcoses through her role in the film.
“Sanay na tayo sa mga ganyan pero kasi nauna kasi nating napakinggan ‘yung istorya ng kabila. So gusto naman naming mapakinggan kung ano bang mayroon dito sa istorya na ‘to. So sobrang grateful kami kay Direk Darryl, Direk salamat dahil nandito po kami.”
Laparan also cited her preparation for her role, including researching all about the young Cory Aquino.
“First, siyempre research and then pangalawan, nagtanong po ako kay Direk kung ano ba, or kung ano ‘yung mga katangian ni former president Cory Aquino.
“And then ‘yung Young Cory Aquino nga is mahinhin, maka-diyos, and noong nagshoot na kami medyo taas noo ako noon, at noong sinabi ng AD na medyo mahinhin nga si Young Cory Aquino so I need to bow, and then nagtuloy-tuloy na ‘yung shoot namin.”
Martyr or Murderer stars Cristine Reyes, Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Ella Cruz, and Diego Loyzaga.
The film features artists reprising their roles, such as Kyle Velino, Elizabeth Oropesa, and Beverly Salviejo.
Laparan joins the newest cast members, including Isko Moreno, Marco Gumabao, Jerome Ponce, Franki Russel, Cindy Miranda, Rose Van Ginkel, Billy Jake, and Marlon Mance.
Directed by Darryl Yap, Martyr or Murderer opens in cinemas on March 1, with a scheduled international release in the following weeks.
