At the press conference for the Grand Launch of Radyo5’s 92.3 TRUE FM on March 11, Cherry Bayle, Radyo5’s program supervisor, with anchors talked about the creative process and collaborative effort that went on behind the rebranding of Radyo5 this year.
“You know, in 2010, we had a liner for Radyo Singko. Sabi namin, iwanan mo na ang lumang tunog ng AM! Well, today, in January 23 of 2023 na-promise na namin yan,” she says.
“We put together AM and FM programming in one station and we called it Radyo Singko 92.3 Totoong Tunog ng Serbisyong Publiko,” Bayle adds. “We all know we came from a pandemic. So, it’s a rebirth stage of the station.
“We changed the lineup of programs. We are not just news. We’ve put together entertainment, public service, music, inspiration…anything that people will look for in a total radio experience. So, ang feeling namin…ito na yun!”
Bayle also talked about working with Jane Basas, the new president and CEO of CignalTV. “So, Ms. Jane Basas, when she looked at our lineup, she said.
“Why not change the name to go with the new lineup of programs to make it exciting?’ So, we came up with TRUE FM.”
She added, “TRUE stands for the 4 tenets of Radyo5 TRUE FM. T stands for the truth in journalism. R… real people, real stories, relatable stories. Makaka-relate tayong lahat at totoong tao ang kinakausap. Totoong tao ang kumakausap. E for entertainment. We have a total lineup of shows that have entertainment. And U is for unwavering commitment to public service. So, you have there, TRUE! The four tenets of 92.3 Radyo5 TRUE FM!”
When asked about Radyo5’s weak reception, Bayle explained, ”Technical difficulty. That’s part of our imrovement plan. that the Radyo5 plans to raise yung quality ng aming listenership along with that, pati yung strength ng Radyo Singko all over the country.
So, yan po yung aming tinututukan din…kase napakaganda ng mga programa, sayang naman kung hindi maririnig. So, I think that’s one of the objectives…one of our priorities na mas palakasin, mas pinalakas, mas pinalawig, mas malawak ang aming tunog sa buong bansa. And also may digital aspect ang Radyo Singko around the world. Bawat kapatid, bawat Pilipino ay maririnig kami. Salamat po!”
