The phenomenal box office queen is set to star in two exciting movies this year, including with Golden Globe nominee, Dolly de Leon.
It was fitting that Star Cinema and Blacksheep Productions announced their respective upcoming projects with Kathryn Bernardo, just one day after she turned 2 last March 26. She is undeniably the biggest movie star of her generation, and she is about to enter the next step in her career. A career-defining turn rarely occurs to stars like her, but for some reason, the timing could not be better.
Coinciding with the continuation of ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc’s post-pandemic resurgence, these two films titled ‘A Very Good Girl ‘ (Star Cinema), and ‘Elena 1944′ (Blacksheep Productions), are nothing Bernardo has done before.
But aside from the fact that these two projects mark the actress’ foray into playing more mature roles, fans are also relishing how the actress’s home network, ABS-CBN, has been showing Bernardo the superstar treatment that she deserves.
Fans agreed with ABS-CBN News’ entertainment editor and reporter, Miguel Dumaual, who noticed the grand gesture given to Bernardo as one of its “Queens” and most prized talents.
“Kathryn Bernardo is getting the queen treatment like what we usually see for the likes of Judy Ann Santos, Regine Velasquez, and Sharon Cuneta. Superstar status. Boogsh! We love to see it,” his tweet read, which fans seem to have enjoyed.

Thankful for the relentless support by fans, Bernardo also acknowledged them, during the special media conference held by Star Cinema and Blacksheep, yesterday, March 27.
“They allow us to grow; they let us do what makes me happy…what makes DJ (Daniel Padilla) happy,” she said, as tweeted by KPex Official.

The upcoming era in Bernardo’s career coincides with a time when the “love team” in the local entertainment scene is being massively criticized, following actress Liza Soberano’s announcement of a career reinvention.
It can be noted, however, that even before this ‘new era’, Bernardo already began figuring out her strength outside of KathNiel, when she filmed the family drama, ‘Three Words to Forever’ in late 2018.
Kathryn Bernardo’s journey to a solo career started a few months after The Hows of Us shattered box office records in 2018.

Other than the Petersen Vergas-directed dark comedy, ‘A Very Good Girl ‘ and the historical action-drama, ‘Elena 1944′, Bernardo is reportedly also doing a reunion film with box-office director, Cathy Garcia-Molina, where she will star alongside her reel-to-real partner, Daniel Padilla.
