The Summer Edition of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival kicked off with its first-ever Parade of Stars on Sunday, April 2.

Amid the smoldering summer heat, fans flocked to get a glimpse of the stars who participated and rode in their respective colorful floats.

The cast of the eight official entries to the inaugural summer film fest waved at the cheering crowd atop their decorated floats, as it traversed a five-kilometer route, which started in Villa Beatriz on Commonwealth Avenue.

MMDA acting chairman and concurrent MMFF overall chairman Atty. Don Artes, with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, led the opening ceremony and hit the gong, signaling the start of the festival.

The parade traveled until the Liwasang Aurora at the Quezon Memorial Circle, where the Meet and Greet with the celebrities took place. It was hosted by the Quezon City local government.

The 1st Summer MMFF, with the theme Tuloy ang Saya will run from April 8 to 18, with all of the eight official entries to be shown in theaters nationwide.

The official eight entries to the 2023 Summer MMFF are according to their order of floats in the parade: Yung Libro Sa Napanuod Ko by Viva Communications, About Us But Not About Us by The IdeaFirst Company, Here Comes The Groom by Quantum Films, Love You Long Time by Studio Three Sixty, Singlebells by TINCAN; Apag by Center Stage Production, Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko by Saranggola Media Productions, and Unravel: A Swiss Side Love Story by MAVX Productions.

On April 11, the entries will compete for the festival awards, which will be presented during the Gabi ng Parangal at the New Frontier Theater [still] in Quezon City.
