Although TAPE Inc. seemingly emerged victorious in this legal battle, with Attorney Jesus Falcis commenting on Twitter, that TAPE legally owns the “Eat Bulaga!” title, the exact implications for TVJ’s show are yet to be determined.
Falcis cleared that while De Leon may have initially came up with the name ‘Eat Bulaga’ in 1979, he relinquished ownership of the trademark to TAPE Inc. years ago. By allowing TAPE Inc. to register and claim exclusive rights over the name, De Leon and the rest of TVJ effectively transferred their rights, solidifying TAPE Inc.’s authority over the iconic title.
