The former Kapuso child wonder’s 10th showbiz anniversary celebration coincides with the cessation of his network contract under GMA Network.
Homegrown Kapuso artist and former child actor, David Remo, expressed his gratitude towards GMA Network, his home network for a decade. In an interview with his mother, Klariz Magboo a.k.a. DJ Gandang Kara, Remo did not deny the fact that he got taken aback by the news his mother delivered to him, a few weeks back.
Pero siyempre, hindi mo maiwasan ‘yung bale, 10 years kasi, lahat ng projects,” he shared, after reflecting on his decade-long journey in showbiz.
Remo notably first graced the small screen via the 2013 TV series, Binoy Henyo, on GMA. He got also cast in a major role in Miguel Tanfelix-starrer, Niño (2014). He was also a long-time cast member of the weekly anthology series, Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko. Before landing roles on TV and in movies, Remo first took his shot in commercials. It was his Binoy Henyo stint, however, that stretched his streak of memorable projects.
Remo admitted that he wondered whether the non-renewal of his network contract with GMA, meant his showbiz career was finally put to a stop.
While he got hurt, the Kapuso actor remains grateful to GMA.
Remo remembered how his career took an upward trajectory before it plateaued and went to a drop, during the pandemic. The 16-year old star’s last teleserye appearance in GMA Network, is notably the sports drama, Bolera, in 2022.
Remo and his mother, Kara, expressed optimism for what’s next in his career, now that his stint as an exclusive Kapuso talent, already came to an end.
“Sinusubukan ko na lang tanggapin na tapos na itong chapter na ‘to ng buhay ko,” he said, joking, “…syempre tumatanda na ako,”
Despite welcoming the possibility of bidding adieu to showbiz, Remo hinted at the possible next step in his career.
“If not ‘Sparkle’, ‘Shine’ daw (sa iba),” he shared, possibly alluding to ABS-CBN’s Star Magic, which traditionally uses the tagline ‘Keep Shining, Kapamilya’.
Will we be seeing him on another TV network or projects outside GMA Network soon? Let’s wait and see.
