After the successful trademark renewal of Television and Production Exponents, Inc. (TAPE) for the name “Eat Bulaga!,” the hosts of a rival program on TV5 have been making successive cryptic remarks seemingly directed at TAPE.
Last Saturday, on August 5, Joey de Leon posted a cryptic message on social media that appeared to be aimed at their former employer, TAPE. Joey’s post read, “Sa kanila ang renewal, sa amin ang numeral” (The renewal is theirs, the numeral is ours).

Meanwhile, Joey has once again dropped hints on the opposing show.
“Napakabait nitong si Mayor. Magalang sa matanda, hindi inaalisan ng mic. Napakagalang,” Joey said a few days ago.
Recall that the segment “G sa Gedli” of Eat Bulaga recently went viral due to an elderly individual being awarded a prize by TAPE Inc., but the acknowledgment was directed towards the former hosts of the show.
Apparently, the grandmother wasn’t aware that the show’s hosts had changed, hence the mention of former hosts who were seen on the GMA Network’s noontime show for a long time.
Eat Bulaga host Buboy Villar was quick to take the mic away from the departing elderly individual, but this action wasn’t appreciated by loyal fans of TVJ (Tito, Vic, and Joey). Buboy and Isko “Yorme” Moreno are the hosts of the “G sa Gedli” segment of Eat Bulaga.
Joey even quipped, “‘Yan ang huwaran na mayor. Walang sinabi ‘yung ibang mayor.”
Is Joey referring to Isko, the former mayor of Manila and now one of the main hosts of ‘Eat Bulaga?’
And why did they introduce the new character in their segment who bears a striking resemblance to Eat Bulaga’s “All for Juan, Juan for All”?
Recall that on Isko’s first day on Eat Bulaga on June 10, 2023, he mentioned that he had texted TVJ to inform them and seek permission. According to Isko, before he accepted the project, he messaged TVJ as a matter of respect, even though he didn’t need to ask for permission.
“Hindi naman, nagpaabiso naman ako in advance as a matter of respect, through a common friend,” he clarified.
