On September 23, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes reacted to Johnny Manahan’s praise for his hosting skills.
During the media event for ‘Family Feud’ at the GMA Network Studio 7, which LionhearTV covered, Dantes appreciated Manahan’s comment while admitting he felt nervous working with the talent manager-director on ‘The Voice Generations.’
“Nakakakilig naman malaman ‘yun kasi sa totoo lang kinabahan ako noong nakatrabaho ko si Mr. M eh. Kasi siyempre, alam ko na siya talaga ‘yung nag-direct ng The Voice from Seasons 1 hanggang Season–kung ilan– parang 10 na ata. Parang ganon.”
He also felt happy with Manahan’s assessment, noting how he passed with flying colors as a host.
“So alam ko, may certain level of expectations siya para sa isang host. And ako, being a new host of the franchise, siyempre I want to, kahit papaano gauge the expectations or at least magawa ko ng maayos. And I’m happy to know na pumasa naman ako sa kaniya.”
He noted that Manahan guided him as host for ‘The Voice Generations.’
“Siyempre after his guidance, siyempre pwede naman mayroon tayong sariling style pero happy rin ako na binibigyan din niya ako ng guidance na ito ‘yung gawin mo, di ba, dito mo siya gawin, which is something new for me.
“Tayo naman as artists, we need something new all the time, hindi naman pwedeng paulit-ulit mong ginagawa ‘yung nakasanayan mo. Magandang parating may bagong sinusubukan.”
Dantes also differentiated his hosting styles for each show he worked on under the Kapuso Network.
He remarked that he bases his hosting style in ‘The Voice Generations’ on the contestants and coaches.
“‘Yung sa The Voice (Generations), parang ‘yun tinatahi ko lang ‘yung kung anong nangyayari sa araw. Kasi ang main attraction naman talaga doon ay ‘yung performances ng talents at ‘yung interaction ng mga coaches. So para sa akin, tinatahi ko ‘yung buong kwento na ‘yun.”
For ‘Family Feud,’ he explained how he carries the energy and engagement of the show with the participants.
“Very much different from what I do here in ‘Family Feud,’ kasi dito talaga, from end to end, talagang kailangan kong dalahin ‘yung buong programa with all the technical aspects involved in facilitating the game and making sure that our guests are happily participating.”
As for ‘Amazing Earth,’ he cited that the Kapuso program focuses on the stories they were featuring.
“Sa ‘Amazing Earth’ naman, it’s really more of story telling, but more of introductions to stories, but ‘yung totoong kwento naman talaga doon ay ‘yung kwento na napapanood, na vino-voice over ko.”
As for the Kapuso Game Show, Dantes returns on air with new episodes of ‘Family Feud’ starting October 2 via GMA Network, before their Kapuso News Program, ’24 Oras.’
