The 14-year old Kapamilya program emerged as the victorious winner of the tight three-way bout among the three noontime shows.
It’s Showtime recorded its first victory in the ratings game, since going head to head with TAPE Inc. Eat Bulaga and TVJ’s noontime show, also titled Eat Bulaga. The historic win was logged on Saturday, December 16, data from Nielsen Philippines reveal, 4.5 versus TAPE Inc’s 2,9 and TVJ’s 4.1.
The last time the Vice Ganda-led noontime show recorded a people rating of or higher than 4, was notably during its pilot episode on GTV, on July 1. That episode logged a very impressive 4.0 people rating. It wasn’t until a few months on air, and two weeks off-the-air, that the Kapamilya show officially took the lead in the ratings. Tough rival show, E.A.T. (now also called ‘Eat Bulaga).
Before taking over the top spot, It’s Showtime notably taken the second place from TAPE Inc’s Eat Bulaga, for three episodes in a row, logging people ratings of 3.2 (vs TAPE’s 3.1 and TVJ’s 4.2) and on Thursday, December 14, 3.0 (vs TAPE’s 2.8 and TVJ’s 4.3) on Friday, December 15.
It’s Showtime also remains virtually unopposed online, as it continues to pull away in the online concurrent viewership game. On the same day, the show drew nearly 200k live viewers on YouTube and Facebook, which is nearly double its nearest competitor’s Eat Bulaga’s (TVJ) usual 100k.
The unusual attention It’s Showtime generated on Saturday can be attributed to the first official guesting of the Kapuso royal couple, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, to the sure. That said, the increasingly-becoming audience-favorite, EXpecially For You, is also seen as a major factor. Trending couple, Kyosu and Jaja, returned to the show on the same day.
