On November 15, actress Julia Barretto discussed taking on mature roles and being comfortable showing off her skin.
During the media event for the Tanduay Calendar Girl 2024 launch at the Element at Centris, Quezon City, which LionhearTV covered, Barretto considered her recent projects like Expensive Candy as a sign of her growing up as an artist.
“Bakit naman hindi, if we’ve already done something like Expensive Candy, but you know what, hindi nga siya daring eh. It’s almost like–it’s growing up–it’s [being] confident in your skin and [confident in]flaws, and confident with [the body] you have, and the person [that you] are.
“And I’m grateful for projects like Tanduay and Expensive Candy that [really] push me and inspire me to be confident in who I am [and] in my skin. So, these things that I do only help make me a more secure and braver woman.”
She then reacted to the possibility of getting recognized as a ‘sex symbol’ in becoming Tanduay’s Calendar Girl for 2024.
“Wow, I’m flattered, I guess. Yeah, I don’t think it bothers me so much– like I said, as you grow up, you become more confident in who you are and in your skin. And if that translates to being able to inspire people to be brave and to be [confident,] and to come out of their shells, I guess I take it. It’s a compliment at the end of the day.”
She also expressed her excitement with her brand endorsement of the alcoholic brand.
“Of course, super excited, ilang buwan din naming inantay ‘tong launch na ‘to. We’re so excited to show it months ago.”
For her recent brand endorsement, Tanduay had the famous photographer BJ Pascual to showcase Barretto’s alluring beauty for the alcoholic beverage’s 2024 calendar. She would be front and center in the number one rum’s 170th celebration for the coming year.
