Showbiz insider Ogie Diaz shared a captivating story from his career in the entertainment industry, shedding light on the challenges faced by reporters in the showbiz scene.
Joined by the cast of ‘Road Trip’ – Gelli De Belen, Carmina Villaroel, Janice De Belen, and Candy Pangilinan – Diaz opened up about the intricacies of being a showbiz insider.
During the discussion, Gelli inquired about instances when Diaz received inaccurate information from his sources. Diaz candidly admitted that, like everyone else, he is not exempt from mistakes and, when faced with inaccuracies, he attributes it to unreliable sources.
“Oo, mayroong mga ganyan. Syempre, nobody is perfect. Kahit naman sa pagtsitsismis. Syempre, gagawan mo ng paraan ‘yan,” Ogie shared. “E ‘di yempre sasabihin ko mali ‘yong source ko. Kasi sinasabi ko naman, ayon sa source ko…So, hindi ko sasabihing mali ako. Mali ‘yong source ko.”
Gelli further pressed Diaz, asking if he ever found himself in confrontations due to his showbiz reports. Diaz shared a light-hearted incident involving a chase, disclosing that he once had to run and even sought refuge in his vehicle.
“Mayroon akong eksena…kumuha ng baril sa Pajero. Siyempre nagtatakbo ako,” Ogie said.
Responding to Janice’s playful question about whether he was running towards or away from the situation, Diaz chuckled without providing a direct answer.
“Pero best of friends kami ngayon. Ninong pa nga ng anak ko,” he explained.
Despite the humorous exchange, Diaz clarified that he and the person involved in the incident are now best friends, with the individual even becoming the godparent of his child. The conversation delved into the unpredictable nature of showbiz reporting and the occasional challenges that reporters encounter.
It’s worth noting that Diaz faced public scrutiny in November 2023 when he trended on social media. KathNiel fans criticized him for spreading rumors about the alleged secret meeting between Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, who were rumored to have separated at the time. Diaz later apologized for any offense caused by his previous statements.
In hindsight, Diaz felt somewhat “vindicated” when KathNiel confirmed their breakup on November 30, 2023, and unfollowed each other on social media, particularly after Kathryn and Andrea Brillantes, another Kapamilya A-lister, stopped following each other.
