Filipino band Sala is now bringing their unique sound to the world as they officially join the roster of GMA Music’s sub-label AltG Records.
Sala’s journey began seven years ago in the familiar setting of Neth Macam’s (vocals and keyboards) living room, where he would jam with his childhood friends Ronald Villadir (bass), and Fourth Tayag (percussion drums). In 2023, Rigil Kentaurus Borromeo joined them as their electric guitar player and producer.
During the pandemic, Neth crafted song after song and would present it to his friends. The four would then collaborate and contribute their unique twist to the song. “Neth would give us the free rein na parang ito ang kanta na sinulat ko, ano pa gusto niyong ilagay dito para mas gumanda,” shared Fourth.
The band also refuses to be confined by a single genre and would like to deliver a diverse and engaging musical experience to the Kapuso listeners.
“Hindi kami sure talaga sa genre namin kasi ang mga kanta namin maraming musical influences from metal to the 60s music, even to old school R&B. Kaya hangga’t maaari lahat ng genre gusto namin pasadahan,” shares Neth.
AltG Records recognized Sala’s potential and signed them as one of their newest acts. The decision to collaborate with Sala was based on the quality and freshness of their sound.
According to Neth, “Mas nakakagana lang gumawa ng kanta ngayon na part na kami ng AltG Records. Hindi kagaya ng dati na kami lahat, at least ngayon nandito na kami, may kumpyansa na kami at mas ganado na kami gumawa ng songs.”
With AltG Records as their partner, Sala has found a platform to share their vision and music with a wider audience. “Now that we have AltG Records, we have a means of disseminating our music to so many people na parang mase-share na namin ang vision namin with our songs,” states Fourth.
