The volleyball action further heats up as GMA Network airs Game 1 of the exciting National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Finals live this Sunday, May 19 from the FilOil EcoOil Centre, San Juan City.
The games will be simulcast on GTV and will have a livestream on the social media pages of GMA Sports and NCAA Philippines.
The best-of-three Women’s Volleyball title series will witness the showdown between the defending champion Benilde Lady Blazers and the Letran Lady Knights.
The three-peat-seeking Benilde Lady Blazers will have a chance to continue their title streak after booking a seat in the championship round as Season 99’s top seed. Head Coach Jerry Yee is confident that they will take home another championship crown this season with the help of Cloanne Mondonedo, Gayle Pascual, and Mich Gamit.
After the nail-biting stepladder semifinals, the Letran Lady Knights showed resilience and are set to face the Benilde Lady Blazers in their first-ever appearance in the finals after 12 years. Expected to take the lead in Coach Oliver Almadro’s team are ace players Gia Maquilang, Lara Mae Silva, and Judiel Nitura.
Meanwhile, defending champion Perpetual Altas will aim to extend their title reign in the Men’s Volleyball Tournament as they face the EAC Generals in the best-of-three finals.
After sweeping the elimination round, the Perpetual Altas moved an inch closer to claiming their fourth straight title in the tournament. All set to steer the ship of Coach Sammy Acaylar’s squad are Louie Ramirez, Jeff Marapoc, and John Pepito.
The EAC Generals, on the other hand, have proven that they have prepared well this season as they secure a spot in the finals round. Battling against the same school they faced the last time they were at the finals stage, Coach Rod Palmero’s mentees, led by star players Ervin Osabel, John Ruther Abor, and Marvin Romero, are even more determined to give their all in the championship round.
