Actress Ruffa Gutierrez, despite publicly confirming her relationship with former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, remains cautious about sharing too many details of their romance, valuing their privacy.
Ruffa’s revelation came during an interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila, where she openly discussed her relationship with Herbert. However, Ruffa has since opted to keep further details under wraps, prioritizing a more private approach.
“For me at my age, I’m turning 50 this year, I’d rather keep things quiet, and I want to focus on my personal life,” Ruffa shared in a recent interview. “I believe that relationships last because they are private. I don’t really want to talk about it, so it’s better that we keep quiet. I don’t want to hide it because it’s been a long time.”
The relationship between Ruffa and Herbert blossomed while they were co-stars in the Kapamilya romcom series ‘The House Arrest of Us,’ which also featured Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in 2020.
“Everything’s good. I am enjoying my privacy. Even my mom was like, ‘Bakit ka nag-aannounce, magpapakasal ka na ba?’” Ruffa recalled with a laugh.
Ruffa’s mother, Annabelle Rama, known for being protective of her children, especially Ruffa, has always had a significant influence on her daughter’s life choices. However, Ruffa believes her mother now sees her as mature enough to make her own decisions.
“That’s the story of my life, di ba? But I think with my mom now, she thinks I’m old enough, siguro naman noh, hindi na siya masyadong nagme-meddle. But she’s always gonna be my mom and she’s always gonna be outspoken,” Ruffa explained.

Ruffa also noted that her mother seems to approve of Herbert. “And also I think she likes and appreciates the person that I am dating now,” she added.
Recently, Ruffa celebrated her 50th birthday with a gathering that included her family, Herbert, and close friends from the entertainment industry such as Karla Estrada, Arlene Muhlach, and Sunshine Cruz.
