‘May nagmamahal sa ‘yo.’ Vice Ganda offers heartfelt support to guest with alopecia

The Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda became emotional on the ‘ExPecially For You’ segment of ‘It’s Showtime’ after hearing the moving story of a guest, April, who is living with alopecia.

April appeared on the show with her former boyfriend Andrei. Despite having a strong relationship for 11 months, April decided to end it due to personal struggles. As a working student, she juggles her studies, cares for her sick mother, and is still grieving the loss of her father last year.

One of the significant reasons for their breakup was April’s insecurity about her hair loss caused by alopecia.

Vice, visibly moved by April’s story, immediately embraced her. He then shared his own struggles with hair loss due to stress, emphasizing that acceptance was a long journey.

He further explained that self-love and the love one receives from others transcend physical appearance. At ‘yung pagmamahal na ‘yun, bumabalik,” he added.

Vice encouraged April, assuring her that someone would love her for who she truly is. Babalik ‘yun. At ‘yung pagmamahal na ‘yun ‘pag naramdaman mo, higit pa sa hibla ng buhok na pwedeng magkaroon ang ulo,” he said.

In a touching moment, Vice removed his wig to show solidarity and boost April’s confidence. “Kung makakatulong ‘to para makakuha ng kahit katiting na kumpiyansa si April, why not?

May wig o wala, may nagmamahal dito ‘no. May wig o wala, may tumatanggap dito.

Vice Ganda is so commendable, no? She’s far from perfect (just like the rest of us), but her growth has always been exponential. https://t.co/nkMGGRND5B

One valuable lesson from Vice Ganda’s interaction with April, a contestant on “It’s Showtime’s” “EXpecially For You” segment who lost her hair to alopecia, is the immense power of self-security. pic.twitter.com/aNtgLwzzav

As Vice removed his wig, he and April hugged again, both in tears, a moment that moved the other hosts and the studio audience to tears as well.

Vice concluded with a powerful message, “In time. Huwag kang magmadali, in your time. This is not for me, but for people like you. In time, matatanggal n’yo rin ‘yan. No pressure. In your time, kapag handa na kayo.”
