As of September 2, 2024, ‘Un/Happy for You,’ the highly anticipated reunion film of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, has amassed over ₱390 million at the box office, securing its position as the highest-grossing film of the year.
Directed by Petersen Vargas, the film is a joint production between Star Cinema and Viva Films.
Following its domestic success, ‘Un/Happy for You’ is set to reach international audiences, with screenings scheduled in various countries. The film will premiere in Milan, Italy, on September 8, followed by Rome on September 15, and Cambodia on September 27. Additional releases are planned for Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and other locations.
Both Julia and Joshua, along with the teams from Star Cinema and Viva Films, have expressed their joy over the film’s tremendous success, especially considering the lukewarm reception of their previous projects before the release of ‘Un/Happy for You.’ This film marks the first time the former couple has reunited on-screen since their breakup in April 2019. Their last collaboration was in the movie ‘Block Z.’
Fans of the pair are also hopeful for another collaboration between Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson, who first worked together in the 2019 film ‘Between Maybes,’ directed by Jason Laxamana. The movie played a significant role in sparking the real-life romance between the two actors.
