Pasig City police have arrested former actor John Wayne Sace in connection with the fatal shooting of Eugenio, which occurred on Tuesday night in Barangay Sagad.
According to the Pasig Police report shared by ‘Balitanghali’ correspondent Emil Sumangil, Eugenio was shot four times with a .45 caliber pistol at approximately 7:30 PM. Authorities detained Sace hours later at a nearby hotel, following a lead from the initial investigation. The firearm used in the crime was reportedly recovered.
Sace and the victim allegedly had previous disagreements, and investigators suspect a long-standing dispute may have led to the altercation.
Shortly before his arrest, Sace posted on social media, seemingly addressing the conflict with cryptic statements. In his post, he wrote, “Nagtutulak kayo ng droga ng palihim… ilang beses nyo na ko pinagplanuhan katulad kagabi??? Ha Diba? Pag umalis ako papatayin nyo pamilya ko… hayopp kayo.”
This recent incident is not Sace’s first encounter with violence. In 2016, he survived an ambush in Pasig where his companion was killed. Reports indicated that both were included on a local drug watch list, with suspicions of involvement in drug-related activities.
Sace, once a Star Magic talent, gained popularity as a dancer on ‘ASAP’ and starred in the series ‘Guns and Roses’ in 2011. He also appeared in the indie film ‘Pintakasi’ and recently made a comeback in ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ in 2022.
As of this morning, Sace has been transferred from detention to the Eastern Police District headquarters for a paraffin test, which will help determine his involvement in the incident. The investigation is ongoing as Pasig Police continue to gather evidence.
