Actors Andre Yllana and Andres Muhlach shared a laugh with the press during the recent media event for ‘Mutya ng Section E,’ a 16-part youth-oriented digital series on Viva One.
The two young stars, who are working together for the first time, entertained the audience with lighthearted banter.
When asked about their working relationship, Andre humorously remarked, “Muntik ko nang maging kapatid yan, charot lang!” This playful statement, referencing his mother Aiko Melendez’s past with Andres’ father Aga Muhlach, sparked laughter among the press and co-stars.
Andre, son of actors Aiko Melendez and Jomari Yllana, shared that his mother was excited about the project when she learned he’d be working with Andres. Meanwhile, Andres, the son of Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez, echoed the sentiment, saying his father, Aga, was also pleased with the collaboration.
Both young actors expressed excitement about their roles in the Wattpad-inspired series. “This is my second project, and I feel grateful and blessed,” Andres said, adding that he eagerly looked forward to working with new faces outside his family. His character, Mark Keifer Watson, is the class president of Section E, known for both his intellect and mischievous streak. His world changes with the arrival of Jay-Jay Mariano, played by singer and actress Ashtine Olviga, who becomes the “mutya” or muse of their class.
‘Mutya ng Section E,’ directed by Theodore Boborol, is based on the bestselling Wattpad series by Lara Flores, which has garnered over 143 million reads. The ensemble cast includes rising Viva artists and industry veterans like Yayo Aguila, Katya Santos, Nanette Inventor, and Lander Vera Perez. The production closely collaborated with Wattpad WEBTOON Studios to stay true to the source material.
