Showbiz royalty Andres Muhlach and rising Viva Artists Agency (VAA) talent Ashtine Olviga are set to make waves in the upcoming Wattpad-based series ‘Ang Mutya ng Section E.’
The highly anticipated show will stream on Viva One starting January 3, 2025, with a primer titled ‘Ang Mutya ng Section E: The Class Begins’ airing on December 27, 2024.
Fans of Andres and Ashtine, dubbed the “JayFer” love team, are already buzzing with excitement after the release of the series trailer during a media conference on December 19. The chemistry between the two stars is undeniable, and their on-screen pairing is poised to capture the hearts of viewers.
In ‘Ang Mutya ng Section E’, Andres plays Mark Keifer Watson, the class president of Section E at the prestigious Higher Value International School. Ashtine portrays Jay-Jay Mariano, a transfer student who initially clashes with Mark but eventually develops romantic feelings for him.
“It feels really good,” Andres shared when asked about their scenes. “Tuwing may eksena kami ni Ash, kinililig ako. Kahit si Direk Theodore (Boborol) minsan he will play music.”
Ashtine described working with Andres as a dream come true. “Marami na akong naging ka-lov team. Pero si Andres yung nag-click po talaga. Hindi ko in-expect. Siyempre Andres Muhlach na yan. sibrang grateful. Parang answered prayer. May kilig,” she said.
This marks Andres’ second major acting project, following his successful debut in the sitcom ‘Da Pers Family’, where he starred alongside his parents Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez, and his twin sister Atasha.
Reflecting on his new role, Andres expressed his gratitude. “Sa totoo lang, the feeling is really… hindi ko ma-explain talaga na nakikita na nila yung trailer, lumabas na. The amount of hard work we put in as a cast, together, parang naging family na kami. Muntik na akong umiyak kanina. So it just feels really good. Feels really good,” he said.
The young actor also acknowledged the challenges of the craft, saying, “Lahat po. There’s a lot of things. It’s not an easy thing to do talaga. This job is not taken lightly. The work you have to put in during the taping days, and even before the taping days, it’s all preparation talaga. How you do that is all different to each and every one of us.”
Joining Andres and Ashtine in the series are Rabin Angeles, Andre Yllana, Heart Ryan, Axel Torres, Frost Sandoval, Kurt Delos Reyes, Ethan David, and Keagan De Jesus. Adding star power to the cast are seasoned actors Yayo Aguila, Katya Santos, Rommel Luna, Lander Vera Perez, and Nanette Inventor.
‘Ang Mutya ng Section E’ promises a mix of romance, drama, and heartwarming moments that are sure to resonate with fans of the Wattpad story. The series’ primer will be available on December 27, 2024, while the full series officially kicks off on January 3, 2025, via Viva One.
