Alfy Yan, nephew of the late Rico Yan, has officially entered the entertainment industry as a Viva Artists Agency (VAA) talent.
The 19-year-old, who signed a contract with Viva Entertainment on December 10, is the son of Geraldine Yan-Tueres, Rico’s sister.
During the signing event, Alfy was accompanied by Rico’s former girlfriend, Claudine Barretto, who clarified her role in his entry into showbiz. “I am not his manager. I just connected him with Viva,” Claudine explained.
Claudine vividly recalled her first time meeting Alfy, describing it as a surreal experience. “Pagpasok ko ng kwarto, may goosebumps ako agad. Kamukhang-kamukha ni Rico! Para akong namalikmata talaga,” she said, amazed by Alfy’s striking resemblance to her former boyfriend.
She believes that Alfy has what it takes to continue Rico’s legacy. “I know Rico’s hopes back then, and there’s no one more fitting to fulfill them than Alfy,” Claudine said, adding that Rico-Claudine fans and Alfy’s family are rallying behind him.
Alfy, who admits to feeling both nervous and excited, revealed his plans to begin his showbiz career gradually. “I am definitely nervous a bit. But it is also really exciting for me. People have always asked me about entering showbiz, but now I feel more confident and ready,” he said.
For now, he intends to focus on endorsements and commercials while preparing for potential acting roles. “Maybe I will do endorsements first since I am still studying… just test the waters,” he added.
Alfy is determined to follow Rico Yan’s footsteps while carving out his own path. “Of course, following in his footsteps… I think I’m just trying to test the waters and see where it goes,” he shared.
Reflecting on his uncle’s impact, Alfy acknowledged the enduring admiration for Rico. “It’s shocking that until now, people talk about my uncle. I didn’t realize until later on how big his impact was,” he said, adding that the support is heartwarming.
Claudine, who played a significant role in introducing Alfy to the industry, shared her belief that his journey would resonate deeply with Rico’s supporters. “Ang daming nangungulila sa pagkawala ni Rico. Everybody is rooting for Alfy,” she said.
With his family’s full support and a legacy to honor, Alfy Yan is poised to begin a promising career in showbiz.
