Actress and vlogger Alex Gonzaga experienced another devastating loss as her husband, Mikee Morada, revealed that she suffered her third miscarriage last December 2024.
The emotional revelation came during an episode of Toni Talks, hosted by Alex’s sister, Toni Gonzaga, on Sunday, January 26.
“Itong third one na nangyari nu’ng December, ito ba ‘yung pinakamasakit?” Toni asked during the heartfelt interview.
Mikee confirmed, “Kami ni Catherine nu’ng nalaman naming pregnant siya, kasi feeling namin nabuo ‘to nu’ng birthday ni Mommy Pinty sa Singapore. Hindi namin talaga akalain, wala kaming plano.”
According to Mikee, they first suspected the pregnancy during a family trip to Singapore to celebrate Mommy Pinty’s birthday. They immediately sought medical consultation to ensure Alex’s health. Initially, their ultrasounds showed hope. However, complications soon arose. “Nu’ng nalaman namin na pregnant kami for the third time, nagpa-check up kami kaagad sa OB and okay naman. Tapos nag-decide kami na mag-iingat na talaga siya. The second week, okay pa ‘yung ultrasound, hanggang du’n sa pangatlong linggo eh sabi sa amin nu’ng doctor, ‘Naku, wala na namang laman. Blighted ovum ulit’,” Mikee recounted.
The couple sought a second opinion following a recommendation from another obstetrician. To their surprise, the next ultrasound revealed a baby with a faint heartbeat. “Sakto, nag-text ‘yung iyong OB, parang kinukulit siya, ‘Daan ka naman. Visit ka.’ Siguro, blessing ni Lord, naisip namin na, ‘Sige, pa-second opinion tayo dun.’ The week after, nagpunta kami. Pagdating namin dun sa ultrasound na ‘yun, ‘yun na ‘yung pang-apat. Mayroong bata sa loob, may baby,” Mikee said.
“First time kong nakarinig ng heartbeat.”
Despite the glimmer of hope, the couple faced complications when the baby’s heartbeat registered at a dangerously low 65 beats per minute. They immediately rushed to the hospital in an attempt to save the pregnancy. “Nalaman namin na mababa ‘yung heartbeat, na 65 lang. So that same day, pumunta kami sa ospital, triny namin habulin, baka ma-save pa ‘yung baby. Ginawa namin lahat… Nu’ng dumating ‘yung December 28… nakita na namin ‘yung embryo, ‘yung baby pero wala na siyang heartbeat,” Mikee shared.
The couple’s third miscarriage follows two previous pregnancy losses in 2021 and 2023. While the pain remains immense, Mikee expressed their gratitude for the fleeting moments of joy during the pregnancy.
