Veteran actress and singer Vina Morales has officially returned to GMA Network after 25 years, joining the cast of the highly anticipated drama series ‘Cruz vs. Cruz’.
The story conference for the series was held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the GMA Network studios, marking her formal return to the Kapuso network.
In ‘Cruz vs. Cruz’, Vina will star alongside an impressive ensemble cast that includes Gladys Reyes, Neil Ryan Sese, Lexi Gonzales, Kristoffer Martin, Pancho Magno, Cassy Lavarias, Gilleth Sandico, Caprice Cayetano, and Elijah Alejo. The series, directed by Gil Tejada, is set to premiere later this year as one of GMA Network’s major projects for 2025.
Ahead of the announcement, social media buzz speculated that either Angel Locsin or Iza Calzado would be the “OG Kapuso” hinted at by Kapuso entertainment reporter Lhar Santiago. However, fans were surprised when the network revealed that it was Vina Morales making her much-awaited return.
In October 2024, Vina expressed her openness to returning to GMA Network during our interview. “I started on GMA 7, but I’ve spent 20 years with ABS-CBN. I’ve also worked with TV5,” she shared, emphasizing her readiness to embrace new opportunities in her career. Her versatility and long-standing contributions to the industry have made her a well-loved figure across multiple platforms.
Vina began her television career on GMA Network in 1987 with the iconic youth-oriented program ‘That’s Entertainment’. She also became a regular on the Sunday noontime musical-variety show ‘SOP’ and starred in ‘Codename: Verano’ in 2000, her last GMA Network project before transferring to ABS-CBN in 2001.
