Kapamilya actress Belle Mariano has reached out to TV host Robi Domingo after he received an online threat from a netizen over his interactions with Donny Pangilinan and Kathryn Bernardo on ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ (PGT).
The controversy began when a social media user warned Robi about the alleged backlash he would receive if he attempted to pair Donny with Kathryn on the show.
“Subukan mo lang na i-match si @donny at @bernardokath, ready ready ang solid supporters ni Belle Mariano na ibash ka mula ulo mo hanggang paa.”
The netizen further accused Robi of tolerating “kalandian” or flirtatious behavior from a co-host.
Robi did not take the threat lightly and responded directly: “Can I consider this as a threat? Can I take legal actions against this?”
He added, “I don’t tolerate this behavior.”
On Thursday, February 27, Robi personally went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to seek legal advice regarding the situation.
In an interview with MJ Felipe, he shared: “I consulted with a lot of people, including my legal team, and they said it’s a go. My relatives included and, of course, my wife.”
He stressed that regardless of whether the threat came from a troll account or a real person, it was still a form of harassment that must be addressed.
“Some people say it’s a minor threat and just a troll account. But I hope this sets an example—whether minor or major, troll or not, you have to take accountability for your actions, online or offline.”
In the middle of the controversy, Belle Mariano personally reached out to Robi Domingo to check on his well-being.
“Nag-message sa akin si Belle, saying, ‘Hi Kuya, I hope you are okay!’” Robi revealed.
“She was so nice for telling me, ‘Rest assured my true fans will not harm you in any way. Hindi sila ganoon. They love you and respect you a lot.’”
Robi reassured Belle that everything is fine between them and emphasized that the incident should not be associated with her true supporters.
Robi Domingo remains firm in his advocacy for responsible social media use, reminding netizens that their words have consequences.
“Whether you’re using a real or fake account, you are still responsible for what you post online. Every action has consequences, and we must all be accountable.”
As of now, Robi has yet to confirm whether he will formally file a complaint against the netizen, but his stand on online harassment remains clear: it should not be tolerated.
