Social media personality Diwata, whose real name is Deo Balbuena, received a rather unconventional Valentine’s Day gift on February 14—an arrangement of flowers that closely resembled a funeral wreath, complete with a red chick.
The viral video, posted by Diwata on Facebook, shows them cheerfully accepting the flowers, which were reportedly delivered from Dangwa, Metro Manila’s famous flower market.
“Na-surprise naman ako! May nagpadala ng bulaklak. Happy Valentine’s mga ka-Vendors!” Diwata captioned the post, seemingly unbothered by the peculiar nature of the gift.
While Diwata appeared to appreciate the gesture, netizens had mixed reactions, with many pointing out that the floral arrangement looked like something meant for a funeral service.
Some even noted that the red chick added an eerie touch, as live chicks are sometimes used in traditional Filipino mourning customs, often placed on top of caskets to symbolize justice for the deceased.
