Actress and TV host Karylle has shut down persistent rumors that she is pregnant, stating clearly that the reports are false.
During the latest episode of her podcast, ‘K’s Drama,’ Karylle expressed frustration over the misinformation circulating on social media.
Karylle shared that strangers have congratulated her in public, assuming she was expecting a child.
“I have to explain, of course, that I’m not pregnant,” she recounted, emphasizing that this is the third time she has faced such rumors.
The ‘It’s Showtime’ host acknowledged that people may have good intentions but emphasized that fake news is harmful.
“This is the third time that this news has circulated, so I knew a categorical denial would be useless because you want to believe what you want to believe. I hate fake news,” Karylle said.
Despite the nature of the rumor not being malicious, Karylle underscored the importance of verifying information.
“It doesn’t seem like bad news. It’s not something that destroys my character. You don’t feel like a chismosa or chismoso by congratulating me. So what’s wrong with it?” she added.
Karylle further explored the implications of fake news with former BIR Commissioner Atty. Kim Henares, highlighting the importance of understanding the legal measures that can be taken against the spread of misinformation.
Karylle has been married to Yael Yuzon, frontman of Sponge Cola, since March 21, 2014. The couple renewed their vows in March 2024 to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. In previous interviews, Karylle expressed her readiness to start a family.
“We are ready when the good Lord says it’s time. The time will come. Everything in God’s perfect time,” she once shared.
The pregnancy rumor gained traction in January, prompting showbiz insider Ogie Diaz to address the speculation on ‘Showbiz Updates’.
“Sana nga totoo ‘yan. E, kaya lang hindi pa gano’n ka-reliable,” Ogie remarked, casting doubt on the reports.
Co-host Mama Loi also questioned the absence of any official announcement from Karylle, saying: “Kung totoong buntis si Karylle, ba’t daw di ina-announce sa Showtime?”
Ogie speculated that Karylle might be keeping any news private but advised viewers to verify information before believing social media rumors.
