Kapamilya star Maymay Entrata has addressed claims that her performance on ‘It’s Showtime’ was enhanced by autotune.

Entrata performed ‘Wrecking Ball’ by Miley Cyrus during the show’s ‘Hide & Sing’ segment last Saturday, February 8, where she was the featured mystery TagoKanta or celebrity singer.
The issue arose after a post by a netizen, @momshiedivine, accused the show of using autotune to mask flaws in Maymay’s vocals.
“Ako ang nahiya para kay Maymay Entrata. Bakit nilagyan ng autotune tapos ‘yung ibang Tagokanta hindi nilagyan? Halata tuloy na siya ang Celebrity Singer treeewww,” the user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Maymay, who came across the post, refuted the allegation and pointed out that her performance was not perfect.
“Hi po ma’am. Hindi po naka-autotune yan, may mga flats pa nga po eh. hihi. Sorry it wasn’t good enough sa inyo. I’ll do better,” she replied.
Her candid response gained praise from many netizens for her humility and willingness to improve.
Following Maymay’s statement, the netizen who made the initial accusation issued a public apology.
“I’m sorry for my tweet about Maymay Entrata’s singing. It was unfair and didn’t reflect the effort she puts into her craft. I acknowledge my mistake and regret any harm it caused. I’ll be more mindful moving forward. Wishing Maymay continued success,” the netizen posted.
Despite the apology, some online detractors continued to criticize Maymay’s singing abilities.
Supporters of Maymay quickly defended her, emphasizing that she is constantly improving and does not need autotune.
Many praised her for taking criticism in stride and remaining professional amidst the backlash.
Maymay Entrata has come a long way since her breakthrough in the entertainment industry. Known for her hit song ‘Amakabogera,’ she has continued to hone her craft in both acting and singing. Her recent ‘It’s Showtime’ appearance is another testament to her dedication and growth as an artist.
