Actress-comedienne Pokwang makes her teleserye comeback in GMA Afternoon Prime’s newest series, ‘Binibining Marikit’.
The show, also starring Herlene Budol, marks Pokwang’s return to acting after a two-year break.
In ‘Binibining Marikit’, Pokwang takes on the role of Mayumi, the biological mother of Ikit (played by Herlene Budol). Like Pokwang, Mayumi’s character also worked in Japan and later achieved success. Pokwang expressed her excitement about portraying a different kind of role.
“Madalas kasi nanay ako, mahirap. Dito sa Binibining Marikit, nag-Japan pa kami, hello? Amoy mayaman naman ako dito, maiba lang,” Pokwang shared at the media conference on February 3.
Aside from her connection with Ikit, Mayumi is also the mother of two sons from different foreign partners. Tony Labrusca and Kevin Dasom play her sons in the series.
Pokwang couldn’t help but inject humor into the discussion, referencing her past relationship with Lee O’Brian, whom she previously had deported.
“Wala na pong deportasyon na mangyayari,” she quipped.
She further added with a laugh: “Yung mga pinagdaanan po namin ni Herlene, wala na po. Kabag na lang po ‘yun, naibuga na po namin ‘yun this time.”
Pokwang also expressed her happiness at working with Herlene Budol, her co-host on ‘TiktoClock’. According to Pokwang, their experience on the set of ‘Binibining Marikit’ has brought them closer, with their relationship feeling like that of a real mother and daughter.
“Para na rin kaming tunay na mag-ina sa set ng Binibining Marikit,” she said.
